A bit of History and Resources for Veterans

** History: Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day. Check Out these Resources for Vets.
------------------------------------------------------------
Veterans Day began as a day to honor the heroism of those who died in our country's military service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on Nov. 11 – the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice on the “11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month” in 1918 that ended World War I. The holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" in 1954 in order to recognize all veterans in all wars.
Veterans Day is on the same day every year – November 11 – regardless of which day of the week it falls. When the date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, government officials or businesses may recognize it on both the official day and the following Monday.
Let us take a moment to remember and appreciate those we have lost and those who have served. THANK YOU!
