Dear John,

Happy Veterans Day!

Each year we pause on the 11th day of the 11th month to commemorate the bravery of those who liberated the world from evil and came home to help build our great country.

Many of our great veterans ended up in Montana and we could not be more proud of their rich legacy of service and their contributions to our great state.

I am the proud son of a Marine – my father served in the 58th Rifle company out of Billings. He instilled in me the values of hard work, selflessness, and sacrifice—values that our veterans devote their entire lives to day in and day out.

They also bring these values to our Montana communities. It’s one of the many reasons Montana is the greatest state in the greatest country in the world.

But as you know the freedoms we enjoy here at home are not free. We enjoy them because veterans and active-duty soldiers constantly defend them.

While ‘Thank you’ never seems to be enough, I am always inspired by the way Montanans go above and beyond to not only honor our Montana heroes, but also to instill the values of service and patriotism in future generations.

As your voice in the United States Senate, I will always work to support the brave men and women who wear the uniform, and their families, who have sacrificed in the name of freedom.

Please take a minute today to thank all of the brave men and women that call Montana home.

May God continue to bless our veterans, our great state and the United States of America.

Montana Proud,

Senator Steve Daines
