Dear Friend,
We honor the service of our nation’s veterans, the price they have paid for our freedoms, and the nation they helped build and fought to protect. Even when their service ends, our veterans advance our country by embodying the American spirit of hard work and perseverance every day. We thank them for the example they set. As we celebrate Veterans Day this month, I want to give you an update on my work on behalf of our nation’s veterans in Congress.
I am proud once again to lead the resolution in the House to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans on Veterans Day, 2023. This year, I also have cosponsored the VA Emergency Transportation Access Act, to protect rural veterans’ access to emergency services, and I cosponsored the Military Spouse Hiring Act to provide tax credits to employers that hire military spouses. I am an original cosponsor of the Major Richard Star Act, which would ensure that veterans who were medically retired with less than twenty years of service and are eligible for Combat-Related Special Compensation receive full concurrent receipt.
Additionally, as a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee for Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies, I am proud that the House passed H.R. 4366, the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2024. Through this legislation, my fellow House Republicans and I worked to support our veterans and the changing infrastructure needs of our military while protecting American freedoms and overturning the woke policies of the Biden Administration. This bill fully funds VA medical care and benefits, including care for toxic exposure, delivering on the promise that House Republicans are committed to our veterans, their healthcare, and the wellbeing of their families. It is my goal to support our veterans and military while also continuing to support conservative values.
Let us always remember that our nation would have been long forgotten in history if not for the veterans brave enough to protect it. If I can ever be of service to you – if you need assistance with your VA or Social Security benefits or help navigating another federal agency – please let me know. It is an honor to represent you in Congress.
