Hi friend,

It’s Robin from HRC’s Legal team. I just wanted to give you an update on three Supreme Court cases involving LGBTQ workers that were argued last fall.

As I said in my email below from October, our rights are on the line in these cases. At their core, these decisions will decide whether the Court views discrimination on the basis of someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity as forms of sex discrimination and, therefore, illegal under Title VII’s protections.

The livelihoods of millions in our community are at stake, so I want you to be among the first to know when the Court releases its decisions.

Text SCOTUS to 472472 and we’ll message you as soon as the decisions come down — plus, we’ll provide you with key takeaways and our interpretation of what they tangibly mean.*

Any day now, the Supreme Court could release these decisions and I want you to be ready. The graphic in my previous email is a good start ― then text SCOTUS to 472472 to get the latest updates.*

Be in touch soon.

— Robin

Subject: Fired because they’re LGBTQ (disgraceful)

Our rights are once again on the line at the Supreme Court, friend.

On Tuesday, the Court will hear three major LGBTQ civil rights cases that could decide how federal non-discrimination laws apply to LGBTQ people. In each case, a worker was fired –– not because of their performance or work ethic, but because they are part of the LGBTQ community.

The decision made in these cases will impact millions of LGBTQ people across the country, so it’s important that you stay in the know.

Text SCOTUS to 472472 and HRC will update you as the cases progress and send you the decision as soon as it comes down this spring.*

In the meantime, check out our explainer infographic and share it with friends –– it breaks down what this case is all about and why the decision will be so significant to us.

LGBTQ workers like Aimee Stephens, Donald Zarda and Gerald Lynn Bostock don’t deserve to lose their jobs unjustly.

No one deserves to be denied a job or fired simply because of who they are or whom they love, period.

I’ll personally be monitoring the Court closely in the months ahead for you and all our HRC members and supporters.

For the latest updates on these three cases –– and other important news impacting equality –– text SCOTUS to 472472.

Onward,
