In New Jersey and Washington this week, Congressman Kim continued his commitment to being there for our veterans closeby and across the country. We look forward to joining the community tomorrow in an extra showing of appreciation for our veterans’ service.

MONDAY: Congressman Kim’s Annual Veterans Town Hall

On Monday at 10 AM, Congressman Kim will host his annual veterans town hall, his 69th town hall. He will speak with a panel of local veterans to hear about their experiences while in service and what lessons they would like to pass along to the next generation about serving in the military. Join to hear their stories!

Congressman Kim Reintroduces Legislation to Honor Veterans’ Loved Ones

Yesterday, Congressman Kim and Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman reintroduced the Protecting Our Veterans’ Memories Act to help state-run veteran cemeteries properly honor those who served our nation. For all they’ve given our country, the legislation would be a tangible and impactful way to help make sure veterans and their loved ones have the care and respect they deserve throughout their lives and after they’ve passed.

The bill would provide state’s Departments of Veterans Affairs with partial reimbursement for costs associated with the funerals and burials of veterans’ spouses and dependents in state veteran cemeteries. Learn more about the legislation here.

Out in Ewing with Mercer County Vets

Yesterday, our office joined Mercer County’s Veteran Services Resource Expo to share how we can assist local veterans and help support all the local services available to our military families.

It was great to bring neighbors together to share these resources and provide a sense of community.

Veterans Affairs Tele - Claims Consultations

Today our office hosted a Telephone Claims Consultations Clinic again with the Department of Veterans Affairs! Local veterans, servicemembers, and dependents eligible to receive VA benefits were able to get on the phone with VSOs for help with their benefits.

A Q&A with Local Vets

Congressman Kim was grateful for the chance to speak with local veterans last week at Christ Baptist Church. We know how important it is to hear directly from veterans about their unique needs. We are committed to making sure they are heard in Congress, fighting for legislation that will support our military community, and being a resource for federal assistance with accessing the benefits you earned.

Congressman Kim Supports Funding for Amtrak and Investing in Local Transit for NJ Communities

This week, Congressman Kim spoke on the House floor against a Republican budget proposal that aimed to cut essential funding for Amtrak. As one of the millions of Amtrak riders, he knows how important an efficient and reliable Amtrak is to New Jersey commuters and travelers. At a time when we need to be investing in infrastructure, the budget would gut Amtrak funding by 64%.

New Jersey stood to lose nearly $173 million in funding for our transit and highway projects. The Republican majority ended up removing the budget proposal from consideration.

Great News for the Northeast Corridor

Also on Amtrak, President Biden announced support for passenger rail projects this week that included $16 billion in federal investment in Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor, which serves nearly 800,000 trips each day and is the busiest in the country.

Congressman Kim’s Statement on the News

“This funding is a big win for New Jersey. Support for projects like the Gateway Tunnel was once dismissed as impossible, but we’ve shown what we can do when we bring people together to deliver for New Jersey. Because of President Biden’s leadership and action from Democrats in Congress, the millions of riders who rely on Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor will see safer, smoother, and more reliable service. As one of those Amtrak riders, I know that there’s more work to be done, and will continue pressing to improve our rail service for all of our communities that depend on it everyday.”

An Effort to Increase Transparency for Online Consumers and Boost American Businesses

A neighbor brought up a great point at one of our town halls. Transparency about where a product is from is also important for online shopping and right now, unclear. This week, Congressman Kim introduced the bipartisan COOL Online Act to ensure that products sold online list their country-of-origin to protect Americans’ right to know where the products they buy are made and support American businesses.
