Dear Friend,

Each year, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, our nation comes together to honor the over 16 million veterans who put their country before themselves and answered the call to defend our great nation.

We owe them our thanks, our freedom, and our way of life.

From the shores of Normandy and the jungles in Vietnam to the mountains of Korea and the deserts in Afghanistan and Iraq, our veterans have borne the costs of America’s wars for generations – and that cost does not stop when the war ends.

While we can never fully repay our veterans and their families for their sacrifice, we can ensure that they have access to the care, benefits, and services they have earned.

That’s why I voted for the Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill to fully fund veterans' health care programs, benefits, and other Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs. You can view that vote here.

With inflation weighing heavy on Americans, I also voted to give our current service members a 5.2% pay increase, which is the largest pay raise in 20 years.

Additionally, Congress came together in a bipartisan fashion to pass the Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act. This legislation will provide a cost-of-living adjustment for veterans’ benefits starting in 2024 – ensuring an increase in the rates of compensation for veterans with service-connected disabilities, as well as the rates of dependency and indemnity compensation.

Telegram readers may also be interested to know that all national parks have free entrance on Veterans Day, and veterans and Gold Star Family members can obtain a free, lifetime entrance pass to our national parks.

Lastly, my office stands ready to help with any federal agency concerns. We have already returned $3,000,000 back to constituents this year, and we look forward to helping others resolve any concerns. If you are having trouble accessing your benefits or care through the VA, please contact my office here or by calling (715) 298-9344.

While we can never say it enough, we thank you.

It is because of you that we are free.

Tomorrow, and every day, let us stand together to support those who have worn the uniform for us.

Thanks again for starting your weekend off with the Tiffany Telegram. We will be back next week with more.

Sincerely,

Please join me in congratulating these eleven students from the Seventh District who received my nomination to serve in our nation’s military service academies.

Students answering the call to serve

On Veterans Day, we also honor a new generation of men and women who are stepping up to protect our nation. This week, I was honored to nominate eleven dedicated and determined high school students to their desired United States service academies. These students are committed to being the next generation of military leaders, and I want to congratulate each of them on receiving my nomination. All high school students who wish to serve in our nation’s military service academies are required to receive a nomination from at least one member of their state’s Congressional Delegation, the Vice President, or the President of the United States. If these students receive an offer of admission into an academy, they will be extended the distinct honor of earning a four-year university education with the commitment of serving in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. You can read more about these students here.
