| As much as we’d like to believe in the myth of a carefree childhood, kids have a lot on their plates. Sports. Hobbies. Friends. Family. School. It’s important then for children to have downtime. It helps them relax, stay resilient to stressors, and develop good coping mechanisms. But this doesn’t only mean vegging out on the couch. There are actually three specific types of downtime kids need, and if you make a habit of creating the right opportunities for them to get enough of each — and maybe clear the family calendar a bit to do this – good habits will take hold. |
