Hi John,
When Edna’s foot infection started eating away at her bone, the doctors said to euthanize her. The infection had resisted treatment with multiple antibiotics, and Edna was in pain and had stopped walking. Her family at Happy Hen Animal Sanctuary reached out to experts around the country, and they all said the same thing: to give up. But because of support from people like you, they kept looking. They finally found a veterinary surgeon who had hope that removing the infected bone could save Edna. And a few days ago, Edna went in for her surgery.

Now, Edna is in the recovery process, and I know she’s going to pull through. She is a fighter.
When Edna was a baby, she had a serial code tattooed on her ear. She was trampled by the bigger pigs in the Smithfield factory farm because she was half their size. Smithfield was most likely going to thump her against the concrete to kill her along with the other “runt” piglets.
Edna has lived through two miracles now -- surviving a factory farm and a chronic infection, and her story shows us the power we all have to make every day miracles happen. Please consider chipping in what you can to cover Edna’s surgery costs (and also sharing the fundraiser). Together, we can make sure Edna’s story continues to inspire people around the world to take action and bring miracles to life.
