ADL Responds to Post-Oct. 7th Reality for Israel and Jews |
Following the horrific October 7 Hamas massacre of 1,400 people in Israel and kidnapping of over 240 children, women and men, ADL mobilized for an agency-wide response to the crisis. The International Affairs (IA) team focused its efforts in several areas, including:
-
Ensuring critical US and other international support for Israel to defend itself against Hamas, including through high-level advocacy with the Biden Administration and Congress;
-
Public advocacy and private backchanneling with international governments and NGOs to help secure the release of those being held hostage in Gaza;
-
Maintaining close contact with global Jewish communities, including the J7, and documenting and reacting to the ensuing spike in global antisemitism;
-
Testifying to Congress about the rise in global antisemitism, the need for strong support for Israel, importance of confirming Jack Lew as US Ambassador to Israel, and other efforts to protect Jewish communities and fight antisemitism and extremism;
-
Producing backgrounders, op-eds, informational videos, and other relevant materials for ADL’s website and media outlets;
-
Conducting English, Spanish and Hebrew-language media interviews;
-
Delivering 24 Words to Action trainings to Jewish communities across Europe;
-
Providing insider briefings for volunteer leaders and the general public;
