Tell the Biden Administration to Expand Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument

The Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation is calling on the Biden administration to expand Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument to permanently protect the adjacent area known as Molok Luyuk, or Condor Ridge.

This is an important step that will conserve the land on both sides of the ridge permanently, honor its cultural importance to California Tribes, and better conserve the region’s incredible biodiversity.

Send your message to the Biden administration today — it only takes a minute to add your name.

Friend — we have an incredible opportunity to permanently protect thousands of acres in Northern California, an area that has for thousands of years been the heartland of the Patwin, a band of the Wintun people, and is significant to other California Tribes including the Pomo, Wappo, and Miwok peoples.

California’s Tribes and local environmental activists are calling on President Biden to use his authority under the Antiquities Act to expand Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument to include the Molok Luyuk landscape.

The move would protect a critical wildlife corridor for tule elk, mountain lions, black bears, and other wild species — while also honoring the sacred sites of the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.

Will you join them? It only takes a second to add your name:

After President Biden took office, he set a major goal of protecting 30% of U.S. lands and waters by 2030. That means doubling land conservation in the country. Scientists argue that this is absolutely essential to getting climate change under control and preventing mass wildlife extinctions.

The thing is — that goal won’t get met by any single policy action. We need to aggressively call on President Biden and federal agencies to follow through.

Friend, we can’t miss this chance to protect one of our nation’s precious landscapes, honor California Tribes’ sacred sites, and preserve biodiversity. But it will only happen if people like you speak up — please join us in calling on President Biden to expand Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument today >>

Thank you for making your voice heard, Friend. We’ll be in touch soon with updates and more ways you can help.

Onward,
