California’s Tribes and local environmental activists are calling on President Biden to use his authority under the Antiquities Act to expand Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument to include the Molok Luyuk landscape.

The move would protect a critical wildlife corridor for tule elk, mountain lions, black bears, and other wild species — while also honoring the sacred sites of the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.

After President Biden took office, he set a major goal of protecting 30% of U.S. lands and waters by 2030. That means doubling land conservation in the country. Scientists argue that this is absolutely essential to getting climate change under control and preventing mass wildlife extinctions.
