This Week's Highlights

Monday

Rep. Jen Kiggans (VA-02), who spent ten years in the Navy as a helicopter pilot, penned a heartfelt op-ed about the importance of service to our country ahead of Veterans Day.

In it she writes:  “It is disheartening to me that our next generation of leaders are growing up in a world muddied with groups who wish to influence them with unpatriotic sentiments. We must continue to educate our youth on the cost of freedom and the value of military service in our great nation.”

Tuesday

Rep. Maria Elvira-Salazar (FL-27) honored Victims of Communism Memorial Day by advocating for legislation to educate middle and high school students about the dangers of Communism.

A staggering 1 in 5 millennials and 1 in 3 members of Gen-Z view communism favorably, and her Crucial Communism Teaching Act would be a critical step to combating this trend.

Wednesday

The House Education and Workforce Committee passed important legislation introduced by Rep. Michelle Steel (CA-45).

The Defending Education Transparency and Ending Rogue Regimes Engaging in Nefarious Transactions (DETERRENT) Act, would bring “much-needed transparency, accountability, and clarity to foreign gift reporting requirements for colleges and universities across the nation.”

Thursday

Rep. Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) called out the pro-Hamas activists who vandalized one of her offices in South Texas.

She made clear: "These acts of vandalism will never intimidate me, silence me, or stop me from opposing anti-semitism and supporting Israel's right to defend itself."
