Girls around the world have amazing potential but are often denied leadership opportunities in their communities to influence decisions about their own lives. Congress has a chance to help change that. Ask your members of Congress to co-sponsor the Girls' LEAD Act!

Hi John -

I’m a mom to two amazing girls. I see so much potential and hope in my daughters. At just 8 and 12, they are already budding activists. They volunteer in our community and have big dreams for their futures. Now more than ever it feels like the world is at their fingertips.

Sadly, this isn’t the reality for many girls around the world.

Girls like Harriett, pictured above, face so many barriers to reaching their dreams. When Harriet’s family was forced to flee South Sudan, she was afraid she would never get back to school. Thankfully, she was able to participate in an accelerated learning program. Not only has she caught up in school, she’s a top student!

Harriet is determined to become a lawyer. Her goal is to make life better for people in South Sudan. When she’s not studying, she is writing songs and plays about gender equality, changing perceptions of what girls can do.

Every girl deserves a chance to dream big, like Harriet.

And that’s why I’m reaching out today, John, to urge you to tell your members of Congress that girls deserve a chance to lead – just like boys.

Will you send a message to your members of Congress today urging them to support girls around the world by cosponsoring the Girls' Leadership, Engagement, Agency and Development Act, or the Girls' LEAD Act (S. 2766)?

Girls face other barriers to fulfilling their dreams. Every 3 seconds a girl under 18 is entered into child marriage, putting their health and futures at risk.

When we invest in girls like Harriet, we change the world. Supporting girls’ empowerment builds more stable democracies and economies. It also helps reduce violence against girls and increases their educational opportunities. Empowering girls to engage in decisions about their own lives creates a more equal world for everyone.

Action for girls around the world cannot wait! We have the opportunity to build a better future for half of the world’s population.

The Girls' LEAD Act will help address these challenges by better targeting foreign aid programs to promote girls’ civic engagement. This bipartisan legislation also includes accountability measures to make sure that U.S. funding is achieving its goals.

Please join me and ask your members of Congress to cosponsor the Girls' LEAD Act today!

Every day, millions of girls are forced to leave school, get married or experience violence. You and I have a chance to help them realize their potential – but only if we act.

Can you send a quick message to your members of Congress and be a voice for girls around the world?

Thanks for being a voice for kids,
