This past Tuesday was Election Day in states all across the country. As I watched people post about going to vote and started to see the returns come in on the news, I couldn’t help but imagine what we’ll all be feeling like this time next year.

One year from now, we’ll be just a few days past Election Day 2024. Maybe we’ll still be waiting for all the votes to be tallied, maybe we’ll be waiting on some key states and races to be called. Or maybe, Democrats will have shown up SO strong that we’ll all be celebrating victories in the White House, the Senate, and the House.

That future is possible! We’ve seen it before, from the incredible blue wave of 2018 to President Biden’s victory in 2020 and the huge (and successful!) effort to block a red wave in 2022. 

But it’s not going to happen magically. As nice as it would be, there’s no snapping our fingers all the way to a Democratic Speaker of the House - or a functioning government.

We’ve got to put in the work, and we have to start right now. 

I’m committed - to defeating my own extreme MAGA opponent, to supporting my fellow Democrats who are running in tough and important races, and to getting things done here in the House. But I’m going to need your help to make it happen.

Building the kind of resources that it’ll take for Democrats to win all across the country is going to be a considerable effort, so now is the time to dive in and get serious about it. 

If we succeed at raising the funds we need and at securing victories this time next year, I really believe the sky’s the limit on our progress. 

With Democrats leading both the House and the Senate, we can protect abortion rights across the country, we can take action to tackle the climate crisis, and we can meaningfully shape our country’s policies to address this changing world we’re all navigating. 

With Republicans in power - or in a gridlocked Capitol - instead of governing, we’re forced to fight petty battles and play political games just to keep our country functioning (or prevent the worst possible outcomes). 

We have an opportunity right now to prepare for this election and create the future that we all deserve - and I for one am not going to let it pass me by.
