Transgender, gender nonconforming, and intersex adults in Los Angeles face challenges but show resilience
A new report by the TransLatin@ Coalition and the Williams Institute examined the quality of life of a group of transgender, non-binary, and intersex (TGI) adults who live, work, or receive services in the City of Los Angeles.
Data from focus groups with 55 TGI adults showed that LA's TGI community continues to face challenges but shows resilience and uses resources developed by TGI people and community-based organizations.
At a launch of the report on November 6, researchers highlighted recommendations from the report that the City of Los Angeles develop interventions that support TGI employment, safe housing, access to health care, and protection from discrimination and violence.

Most adult donor-inseminated offspring of lesbian parents satisfied with level of contact with donor siblings
A recent report from the National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study examines the relationships between 75 adult donor-inseminated offspring of lesbian parents and their donor siblings. More than half of the offspring had found their donor siblings, and most had then made contact.
Offspring who had contacted their donor siblings got along well with them, viewed their siblings as acquaintances, and had told most family members about their contact. Most offspring were satisfied with what they knew of their donor siblings and their level of contact with them.

This week, the ACLU filed a petition asking the U.S. Supreme Court to block Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming care from going into effect. The petition cites the Williams Institute's October report on the impact of 2023 legislation on transgender youth to show that 100,000 transgender youth currently lack access to gender-affirming care because of state laws in Tennessee and other states.
