Jack, sign the petition: Keep guns from domestic abusers.

SIGN THE PETITION

Last February, a Trump-stacked court in Texas ruled that domestic abusers have a constitutional right to own guns, a ruling that could overturn a 30-year-old federal law that permits the disarmament of individuals subject to domestic violence protection orders from possessing firearms.

Now, that case is before the Supreme Court. Rejecting the lower court's ruling and upholding this law is crucial for the safety and well-being of survivors and their families.

Domestic violence protective orders that prohibit firearm possession are a vital tool to protect victims and survivors from further harm. Research shows that armed domestic abusers pose a significant risk to their intimate partners, families, friends, and law enforcement. Allowing abusers to retain access to firearms increases the likelihood of lethal outcomes.
