Election Results, Opportunity to Give, Judicial Gerrymander Win

View this email in your browser ([link removed])

Tuesday's election results have given us much to reflect upon and celebrate. In the local elections, we saw 21.31% voter turnout. You can find updated local election results HERE ([link removed]) . Democrats scored victories in several states in Tuesday's off-year election: Ohio voters will enshrine abortion access ([link removed]) in the state's Constitution and Democratic incumbent Gov. Andy Beshear won his reelection ([link removed]) in Kentucky. Democrats also took control of Virginia's House of Delegates and retained their hold on the majority in the state Senate. In a sweeping rejection of the conservative Moms for Liberty ([link removed]) group across the United States, voters turned away from candidates endorsed by the group in multiple school board races.

The victories signal a collective desire for progress, unity, and a return to the values that make our democracy strong. As we gear up for the 2024 elections, we must recognize the importance of staying engaged and informed. The choices we make, the conversations we have, and the actions we take today will shape the landscape of tomorrow.

Now, more than ever, it's crucial to stay involved. Sign up to volunteer and make a difference HERE ([link removed]) as we head toward Election Day 2024.

Judicial Gerrymander WIN!
As shared in our October 27 newsletter, on June 15, House Speaker Paul Renner shook the state with an unexpected proposal ([link removed]) to consolidate Florida’s existing twenty judicial circuits.

While he argued this move could save money and streamline the judicial process, many suspected a different agenda at play. Concerns arose that this consolidation effort was, in reality, an attempt to gerrymander the state’s judicial districts. In response, the Supreme Court created a Judicial Circuit Assessment Committee to report its findings by December 1.

We are pleased to report that on Monday, amid overwhelming opposition to judicial consolidation, a committee appointed by the Florida Supreme Court unanimously recommended against shrinking the number of judicial circuits in the state.

Florida is facing unprecedented challenges under Governor Ron DeSantis' leadership.

Equality Florida ([link removed]) has launched a powerful new television ad ([link removed]) called #DeSantisFailedUs, highlighting the disastrous impacts of Governor DeSantis' agenda of censorship and government overreach.

This new video paints a stark picture of what Florida has become: a state where core values like freedom, equality, and democracy are under assault. DeSantis' obsession with waging culture wars has resulted in book bans, emboldened racism, censorship of history, and anti-LGBTQ attacks.
Floridians are fed up with politicians waging war on families by banning books, censoring curriculum, whitewashing history, and replacing education with propaganda — all at the expense of our kids and their futures. We can not allow Ron DeSantis to harm our children, our families, or our state any longer.

Click HERE ([link removed]) to learn how Equality Florida is mobilizing across the state to put a stop to DeSantis’ slate of hate.
