This Saturday, November 11, is Veterans Day. It is a day when we as a nation remember the men and women of our Armed Forces throughout our Nation’s history, who by their service, heroic sacrifices, and courage, purchased for us the freedoms we enjoy today.
We remember and honor the service of all our veterans whenever and wherever they served, in war and in peace.
The words of Thomas Jefferson in a December 4, 1788 letter to George Washington embossed on the West Point library staircase, advised:
“THE POWER OF MAKING WAR OFTEN PREVENTS IT. AND IN OUR CASE WOULD GIVE EFFICACY TO OUR DESIRE OF PEACE.”
Today, more than ever, we should heed his advice as the world, filled with turmoil, is heading toward the increasing chance of mushroom clouds.
God bless our veterans and God bless America.
Sincerely,
Richard Thompson
