This weekend: Armistice Day & Remembrance Sunday
Armistice Day Sat 11 November Old Market Square
To mark Armistice Day, a short Service of Remembrance will take place on the steps of the Council House. Commencing at 10.55am with the two-minute silence at 11am, there will be a reading and prayer by the Lord Mayor’s Chaplain, Reverend Jo Tatum, and the Last Post will be played on the bugle by a student from Nottingham High School. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Remembrance Sunday Sun 12 November Victoria Embankment
The traditional Remembrance Service takes place at the city's war memorial at Victoria Embankment. The ceremony will begin at 10.45am and include the two-minute silence and wreath laying. The Nottinghamshire Band of The Royal Engineers, accompanied by the Nottingham Hospitals Choir, will provide music for the service. People wishing to pay their respects and observe the ceremony are very welcome.Â
Winter Wonderland now open

Festivities await at Old Market Square with the return of Winter Wonderland.
You can skate around the square on the Sky Skate ice path or enjoy the ground level ice rink. Sip on a hot toddy in the Sur La Piste and Altitude ski chalet bars, or experience the themed Ice Bar kept at a chilling -10 degrees.Â
There's a huge range of hand-made gifts and delicious food at the Christmas market stalls, and visitors can also view the twinkling city lights on the observation wheel.
To avoid disappointment and to skip queues on the day, it's recommended to book in advance for ice skating, bar experiences and observation wheel fast track access. Nottingham city residents can also receive a 10% discount on super off-peak and off-peak skating bookings.

Join It's in Nottingham at Nottingham Castle for a weekend of festivities. Enjoy the aroma of roasted chestnuts and mulled wine as you browse through unique handmade crafts, delightful decorations and tasty treats from independent stallholders. Then, indulge in some mouth-watering food whilst enjoying live music and family-friendly entertainment.
Tickets are now on sale for just £1 per person, including entry to the Christmas Market, Nottingham Castle and grounds. Booking in advance is recommended as walk-ups on the day will be subject to capacity. Entry is free for existing Nottingham Castle annual pass holders.

This festive season, Newstead Abbey is hosting a magical Narnia at Newstead.
See the enchanting installations with a self-led walk through the historic house, or book onto a family friendly house tour or festive evening tour. There will be craft stalls in the medieval cloisters at weekends, offering a range of gifts and treats.
During your visit you can also indulge in afternoon tea or Christmas dinner.

Just announced: Nottingham 10K

Entries are now open for the return of one of the region’s most highly anticipated and popular charity road running events, the Nottingham 10K.
Returning to Nottingham’s sporting calendar on Sunday 10 March, thousands of inspiring and seasonal runners alike are expected to get in on the action while taking on a new and exciting route. Traditionally centring around the University of Nottingham, runners can now look forward to a brand new 10K route in the city centre. Further details about the route will be announced soon.
Runners are invited to fundraise for a cause close to their heart, chase a PB or take on a brand-new challenge.
