John, we could have given you a BIG high five on election night!
Yet again, pundits predicted that inflation would be the top issue in this election despite a recent Lake Research poll showing that abortion and women’s rights, in fact, are top priorities for women voters, especially young women.
They were wrong.
And many of these same pundits have questioned our strategy organizing on college campuses to turn out younger voters. (After all, they said, young people are apathetic and don’t vote.)
Again, we proved them wrong.
But this fight is not over. And that’s why we’re writing to not only thank you for your support over many years but to urge your immediate support for the major battles ahead in the pivotal 2024 elections.
From community colleges in Virginia’s suburbs to colleges and universities in key districts, Feminist Majority’s organizers turned out students who voted to win pro-choice control of both houses of the state legislature and deny Virginia’s right-wing governor any chance to pass a punitive anti-abortion ban AND possibly rescind Virginia’s ratification of the ERA.
From small colleges like Oberlin to large universities like Ohio State and another 11 campuses, organizers recruited by our sister organization, the Feminist Majority Foundation, mobilized young people by the tens of thousands, a key constituency in this historic victory to add a Constitutional amendment in Ohio – permanently protecting abortion and other reproductive rights.
We must do it again – and soon. Republican presidential candidates preparing for 2024 are already campaigning for a national abortion ban.
John, you care deeply about these issues. Your donation today will help us achieve these urgent goals:
And when we achieve this, we can finally enshrine the Equal Rights Amendment in the U.S. Constitution as the 28th Amendment, providing lasting protection against sex discrimination.
We've proven that when we come together with focused determination, we can achieve the impossible. We’ve been successfully mobilizing young voters on college campuses since 1996 through strategic organizing and get-out-the-vote efforts to win key election victories.
But to continue our forward momentum, we need your support. Your contribution, no matter the size, will be put to immediate and effective use. Join us, and we'll keep you updated with progress reports and actionable steps to ensure victory.
Now is the time to seize the moment. To win back, advance, and protect our rights in 2024.
Together, we can win — we must win.
For equality,
Eleanor Smeal, President
Kathy Spillar, Executive Director
