March for Israel on the National Mall in DC on November 14

Join us in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, November 14 for a March that will bring together communities from across the country to show strong solidarity with Israel and the Israeli people, while demanding the immediate release of the remaining hostages and condemning the rise of antisemitism.

VIDEO: “Bring the Hostages Home” Webinar Recording

Tuesday’s

“Bring Them Home” webinar came with a stark visual reminder. A simple ‘32’ that Rachel Goldberg taped to her skin to tell us all that it had been 32 days since her son, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, and at least 240 others were taken hostage during the Hamas massacre that also killed over 1,400 people. Now it’s 34 days...

We don’t have a moment to waste to help Hersh, who was wounded during the attack as he fled a music festival in southern Israel. Or to support Edan Alexander, who was taken hostage while serving in the Israeli military. His mother Yael Alexander told us that she hopes each day will be the day she gets word that Edan has been set free.

We encourage you to watch and share the Fighting Hate from Home webinar hosted by ADL alongside NCJW and the IAC. You can take action now and every day until Hersh, Edan and all of the others are set free. You can tell these families that they are not alone in fighting for their loved ones.

What’s News

Block Terrorist Content from Social Media: Yesterday, ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt joined Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Congressman Don Bacon (R-NE) to introduce the Stopping Terrorists Online Presence and Holding Accountable Tech Entities Act (aka the STOP HATE Act) bipartisan ADL-driven legislation to hold social media companies accountable for their efforts to curb the activity of designated terrorists on their platforms and to increase public understanding of how this activity poses a threat to the U.S. This is particularly timely since terrorists like Hamas are using social media to stoke violence, circulate propaganda and fundraise. You can take action to help this become a
law.

We are Being Heard on the Hill: In addition to working on the STOP HATE Act effort, Jonathan and other ADL staff were on Capitol Hill this week to meet with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the House Bipartisan Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, House leaders from the Appropriations and Education committees, as well as FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland as we push for progress on the

International Incidents: Our Global Antisemitism blog has been updated with the latest incidents, including a Hezbollah plot in Brazil, an attempted firebombing in Canada and “Kill all Zionists” vandalism in Germany. Where Antisemitism is Surging: Since Hamas’ massacre, the ADL Center for Technology and Society has documented a surge in online antisemitic hate and assessed the incidence of antisemitic hate on two mainstream platforms, X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook. Antisemitic posts increased dramatically on X, while the frequency of antisemitism on Facebook remained relatively stable. These differences likely illustrate the central role that content moderation plays in preventing hate online, particularly in times of crisis and conflict.

Professors Promoting Hamas: Anti-Israel activists and organizations have justified and even venerated Hamas’ actions, some using overtly antisemitic rhetoric. That includes a number of university professors, some of whom have expressed inflammatory views, celebrating Hamas’s actions on October 7 as “heroic” or an “achievement” and calling for “Zionists” to remove themselves from Israel or suggesting they should be physically assaulted. At least one professor has taken a leave of absence, and another resigned following statements.

Protest Assault Tragically Turns Deadly: We were horrified by the tragic death of Paul Kessler, who passed away from injuries sustained in a fall after reportedly being assaulted during an altercation with a pro-Palestinian protestor on Sunday in California. Our heart goes out to the Kessler family. ADL’s regional office has been in touch with local police, who are investigating the incident and have not ruled out the possibility of a hate crime. We will do everything in our power to protect our communities and ensure that those who assault or harass members of the Jewish community are held responsible.

Take Action Today

Demand the UN and Red Cross Work to Release the Hostages in Gaza Now! The United Nations and its member states must use every lever at their disposal to bring all hostages home now. The International Committee of the Red Cross must demand access to the hostages and provide urgent medical attention to those taken captive. You can join ADL in pushing for maximum effort to help the hostages and bring relief to their families.

@ADL

The 85th anniversary of #Kristallnacht, also known as the “November pogrom,” comes 1 month after Hamas’s bloody pogrom against the State of @Israel. From Nov 9-10, 1938, rampaging mobs throughout Germany & Austria freely attacked Jews & destroyed their businesses & synagogues. Nearly 100 Jews were murdered, 30,000 were sent to concentration camps and 1,400 synagogues were burned. The public’s lack of outrage over the targeted violence convinced the Nazis that more extreme measures would be tolerated.

We are glad to see @EDcivilrights putting schools on clear notice of their legal obligations under #TitleVI to protect Jewish and Israeli students from discrimination and harassment in the wake of the October 7th massacre.

Not surprising to see Roger Waters justifying atrocity and hate, but denying it even happened is a new low even for him. This is another brick in his wall of antisemitism. He’s utterly blinded by hatred of Jews and Israel.

Bravo @BrandeisU for shutting down their SJP chapter. As President Liebowitz wrote, when you support violence against Jews or the annihilation of the state of Israel, you forfeit the privilege of official recognition on campus. Let’s hope more universities follow this example.

We are horrified by the violence at the @musoftolerance last night. Thank you to @LAPDHQ for your quick action and to @MayorOfLA for condemning this hate. Let's call it what it is — blatant antisemitism. Read more from ADL Los Angeles Regional Director @jeffreyabrams below.

Campus is the front line in the spread of antisemitism. We are disgusted that Israeli and American flags were vandalized at @KUAEPI and the Israeli flag was torn and discarded. Campus must feel and be safe for all students. @UnivOfKansas needs to speak out against antisemitism.
