Hello,

This Saturday is Veterans Day.

We are grateful for the brave people who have served our country and protected us, and are especially thankful for veterans who have brought their unique skill sets to our hospitals and health systems.

We want to highlight several stories of incredible veterans who have dedicated their lives to serving their communities:
- Stephanie Smart is not only the Vice President of Nursing at the United Hospital Center in West Virginia, she is a mom, a farmer, and a veteran of the Marines, having served two tours in Iraq. She credits the military for teaching her leadership skills and resiliency. Learn more about Stephanie here.
- Devin Yates is the President of Nursing Staff at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. Before that, Devin served in the U.S. Army for 10 years, receiving five Purple Hearts after being shot at multiple times throughout his deployment. After a medical discharge from the military, Devin pursued a career as a nurse, in part because he “wanted to give back to the field that helped me recover.” Learn more about Devin here.
- Doctors Meedlen Charles and Sarah Vossoughi are both physicians at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, and both served our country overseas. Linking her military service back to her career as a physician, Vossoughi shares: “I simply do what needs to be done because my mission now as a civilian is to take the best possible care of my patients. Nothing will stand between me and my mission.” Doctors Charles and Vossoughi shared their stories here.

Show your appreciation for those who have protected us, not only in the military but also as our health care workers, providing exceptional health care across the country.
