Dear Friends, Partners, and Allies,

All of us at Freedom for Immigrants are grateful for the support you have shown us, especially through the transitions of the last few years. FFI is starting a new chapter with Laura Hernandez as our Executive Director, fulfilling our commitment to follow the direction of leaders who have personally been impacted by immigration detention. We know that with your continued support, our next chapter will be even more fruitful than the last ten years.

To help launch this new chapter, we are excited to introduce this year’s Annual Appeal, titled "Freedom for Immigrants Until Everyone is Free: Powered by the People.”  During this campaign, we will reflect on our ongoing efforts to center the voices and experiences of those directly impacted by detention while resourcing our efforts for the next year. Your support of this year’s campaign will empower the FFI team to further its critical programmatic work, such as FFI’s National Immigration Detention Hotline, or our advocacy for federal bills like the New Way Forward Act, which would roll back the criminalization of our communities. Your generosity will also resource our ability to continue offering paid fellowships to directly impacted people and will be integral to implementing Laura’s vision for FFI.

The goal for our Annual Appeal is $400,000, but we would like to kick off this campaign with a more meaningful goal. Giving Tuesday, which takes place on November 28, began as “a Movement that Unleashes the Power of Radical Generosity Around the World.”. In this spirit, we would like to show that FFI really is “powered by the people,” by hitting our participation goal of 200 donors by the end of #GivingTuesday! Over the next few weeks, you’ll hear more about our Annual Appeal and about how to join us in our #GivingTuesday 200 donor challenge. Thank you again for supporting Freedom for Immigrants and the movement to abolish immigration detention.

In solidarity,

Wensley Peguero
Development Director
