Ohio BUILDS Appalachian Map
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced [ [link removed] ] that approximately $420 million in grant funding is now available to help positively transform Ohio?s 32-county Appalachian region.
The Ohio Department of Development began accepting applications for the second round of the Appalachian Community Grant Program on Monday morning. The program will fund projects that revitalize downtowns, enhance quality of life, and help rebuild local economies.
?Ohio?s Appalachian region has so much to offer ? from a willing workforce to historic downtowns and breathtaking natural wonders,? said Governor DeWine. ?Funding from this program will help positively transform Appalachia and impact those living there for generations to come.?
?This targeted investment will help bring transformative change to our Appalachian communities,? said Lt. Governor Husted. ?Improvements to downtown areas, along with enhancing the local education and workforce systems, will help prepare the entire region for a successful future.?

Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted, and Ohio Department of Development Director Mihalik announced [ [link removed] ] details for the $125 million Innovation Hubs Program in Ohio. The program will capitalize on communities? existing industry and research strengths to build a sustainable talent pipeline and commercialize new products and technologies.
Innovation hubs are industry-focused ecosystems of researchers, entrepreneurs, and public and private partners who work together to create and develop innovative solutions and products. Aimed at small- and medium-sized Ohio cities, the hubs will create jobs, increase STEM talent, and attract research funding and outside capital investment.
"This is an opportunity for all regions to capitalize on the innovations in their communities and be part of the big-picture strategy for growing Ohio's economy," said Governor DeWine. "With this program, we're investing in Ohio's long-term future and enabling the success we've seen through our innovation districts in Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland to be realized across the state."
"We currently have three thriving Innovation Districts in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati. This new round of funding for Innovation Hubs will empower other regions across Ohio to leverage their world-class assets, recruit and create STEM talent, and attract private investments,? said Lt. Husted speaks at Ohio Manufacturers' Workforce Summit in Westerville

Healthy Aging Grant Graphic
Governor DeWine and Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) Director Ursel J. McElroy
announced [ [link removed] ] the launch of a new grant program designed to empower Ohioans to thrive as they age.
Administered by ODA, Ohio?s new Healthy Aging Grants program [ [link removed] ] is providing $40 million in support of local aging services focused on helping Ohioans age 60 and older stay healthy, live longer, and maintain their independence.
?Ohioans want to live well as they grow older. They want to live in their homes, around their family and close friends, while remaining vibrant and active contributors to their communities,? said Governor DeWine. ?The local programs strengthened by our new Healthy Aging Grants will make this level of vitality and autonomy possible for more older adults across our state and is key to achieving our vision of making Ohio the best place to age in the nation.?

The Ohio Department of Development announced [ [link removed] ] internet service providers may now apply for a share of the $77.5 million available in round two of the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Grant (ORBEG) program that helps bring affordable, high-speed internet to more of Ohio?s unserved and underserved areas.
?We?re committed to giving all Ohioans high-speed internet access,? said Governor DeWine. ?The projects created through this groundbreaking program will greatly expand the digital resources that make a tangible difference for those who live in rural and underserved communities.?
?You can?t be part of the modern economy without access to reliable, affordable internet access,? said Lt. Governor Husted. ?It takes both public and private investment to get as many Ohioans as possible that connectivity and this grant program will help close the funding gap.?

Governor DeWine attended the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to recognize 20 inductees who have honorably served their country through military service and have continued to serve and inspire with their deeds and accomplishments throughout their lifetime.?

Governor DeWine announced [ [link removed] ] that he will nominate Stephen D. Dackin as director of the Department of Education and Workforce. Governor DeWine also announced that Lori Criss will leave as director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services (OMHAS) to pursue a new career opportunity at The Ohio State University.
?Steve Dackin has a broad base of experience that will benefit Ohio?s continued efforts to create a transformative education system that provides the resources and support for students and serves as a pipeline of talented young people to Ohio employers, colleges, universities, and career and technical education centers, helping every Ohioan live up to their God-given potential,? said Governor DeWine. ?I look forward to working with Steve in this new role once confirmed by the Ohio Senate.

Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted, and Ohio Department of Development Director Mihalik announced [ [link removed] ] the launch of a new program to help alleviate the cost of Commercial Driver?s License training for Ohio employers.
The Commercial Driver?s License (CDL) Training Program will provide $3 million in tax credits to Ohio employers to support the upskilling of current and future employers in today?s high-demand economy.
?Ohio is a state that makes things, and commercial drivers are essential to getting our products from here to there,? said Governor DeWine. ?This program takes a major step toward a more competitive, skilled, and agile workforce in Ohio that is poised to lead the future of manufacturing and trucking.?
?By supporting individuals through tax credits for CDL training, we're not just helping businesses, we're helping truck and bus drivers and taking another positive step to attract people to a profession that is in desperate need of drivers,? said Lt. Governor Husted. ?It's a strategic move that benefits everyone ? employers, workers, and the state's economy."
