Brothers and sisters,
The California Labor Federation
representing over 1,200 affiliate unions and over 2.2 million workers has
officially granted statewide strike sanction to Teamsters Local 2010.
Teamsters 2010 has
called a one-day strike on November 14 at California State University locations
around the state in protest of the University’s numerous unfair labor practices
(ULPs) and violations of state law. CSU workers are underpaid and remain the
only state workers without a salary step system. New hire wages nearly match
those of senior staff, and many long-term CSU workers are forced far from
campus to afford housing. The University has bargained in bad faith and
committed numerous violations of labor law in its treatment of Teamsters
workers.
The hardworking
members of Local 2010 keep our state universities running and they deserve fair
wages and a good contract. The Labor Federation and all our unions will stand
with them in this one-day strike and as long as it takes to get the protections
their members deserve.
We ask all affiliate unions to honor their picket lines on
November 14 at all CSU locations. Please see flyer here with locations and times across the state.
See you out on the picket lines!
In Solidarity,
Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher
