Democratic Senator Joe Manchin Makes Announcement.
John, by now you have heard the news rocking DC, Joe Manchin has announced he will not seek reelection to the US Senate in 2024!
This is without a doubt a major blow for our chances of maintaining control of the Senate. This of course is not a concern for Senator Manchin – for years now he has shown us time and time again that Joe Manchin only cares about Joe Manchin.
Remember it was Joe Manchin that led the way to end the child tax credit because he claimed that it was money wasted. That bill was a lifeline for millions of Americans with young children and Manchin made it his mission to join forces with the Republicans and end it.
We are not writing off West Virginia but right now we have to focus on what Manchin does next. His speech today sounded much more like a Presidential run announcement than a retirement speech.
Manchin has indicated that he may challenge President Biden for the presidency in 2024, which means he will have a lot of money and resources at his disposal. Remember Manchin has spent decades cozying up to billionaires and fossil fuel conglomerates. He knows where the money is and they would love nothing more than to see him in the Oval office. Our work is cut out for us, but we are not ones to back down from a fight.
