Presented by Women for Parkinson's (WFP), Canvas of Hope is an upcoming reception and panel discussion on Nov. 15, with talks about the latest research. It'll feature talented Canadian artists living with Parkinson's showcasing their experiences through photography and painting. Parkinson Canada is partnering with the Canadian Movement Disorders Society on Nov. 24 – 25 for the 2nd Annual Canadian Movement Disorders Meeting in Toronto. There'll be over 150 attendees including experts from all facets of the Parkinson’s research and clinical community. The event will be an exceptional opportunity for professionals to network, exchange the latest scientific research and discuss ways to better equip healthcare systems to diagnose and treat movement disorders. Hill Day

On Oct. 24, Parkinson Canada went to Parliament Hill. Our goal was to raise awareness of Parkinson’s with elected officials and ensure that the voices of people living with Parkinson’s and their care partners are being heard by the federal government. We're happy to report that the day was a resounding success as we were able to raise many of our concerns with parliamentarians. Read more about Hill Day here.

Parkinson's IQ + You

The Michael J. Fox Foundation teamed up with Parkinson Canada to host Parkinson's IQ + You in Dartmouth, NS on Oct. 28. This free in-person event was the first of its kind in Canada. It was an empowering experience for people living with Parkinson’s and their care partners in Atlantic Canada to learn tips on managing the disease, hearing about the latest research, and connecting with local resources.

Webinar: Family Matters

During our October 26 webinar, “Family Matters: Parkinson’s and Family Relationships,” Pascal Girard, Social Worker at McGill’s Movement Disorder Clinic, discussed the effect Parkinson’s may have on the relationships you have with those closest to you, and some approaches to consider when navigating these changes. We also heard from Rob Lebel, a Parkinson Canada Peer-to-Peer Program Mentor and person living with Parkinson’s, and his spouse, Angie, about how Parkinson’s has impacted relationships with those close to him and strategies they use to strengthen those bonds.
