In a resounding triumph for the Taxpayer Bill of Rights and fiscal responsibility, Coloradans across the state rejected Prop HH for being an obvious Democrat property tax hike scam.
This deceptive ploy put forth by Jared Polis, and his radical Democrats in the legislature, once again demonstrates how out-of-touch and corrupt their Party has become. Prop HH was rightfully rebuffed by a vigilant electorate that recognized the dangers posed by the Democrats' insatiable appetite for more taxes and spending, which only serves to threaten the very foundation of Colorado's economic prosperity.
Now that the dust has settled, Jared Polis has called a special session with no clear plan to address the property tax crisis he and his fellow Democrats created.
The Colorado Republican Party encourages every Republican lawmaker to advance the obvious policy solution voters demand – permanent property tax rate reductions that don’t touch our Taxpayer Bill of Rights refunds.
Government is too big and spends too much. If citizens have to tighten their belts in tough economic times, then the government should tighten its belt as well by spending less and being more efficient with taxpayer dollars.
Finally, credit for this victory against Prop HH ultimately belongs to the voters who refused to let extreme Democrats pull the wool over their eyes and the countless citizens who worked tirelessly to educate their neighbors. From the Colorado Union of Taxpayers to Advance Colorado to Americans for Prosperity and to the many county Republican Parties/Groups across the state, a broad coalition of organizations came together to defend our Taxpayer Bill of Rights and stop tax-and-spend Democrats dead in their tracks.
This coalition’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding the hard-earned dollars of our citizens, played a pivotal role in educating voters about the detrimental impact of Prop HH. By highlighting the stark contrast between Republican principles and the Democrats' blatant disregard for fiscal responsibility, we empowered Coloradans to make an informed choice that reflects their values.
This defeat serves as a wake-up call for Colorado residents who have seen through the Democrats' greed and their attempts to undermine our cherished way of life.
The Colorado Republican Party remains dedicated to exposing the truth about the extreme agenda that Democrats are pushing, fueled by dark money and a biased media that consistently covers for their excesses.
As we celebrate this victory, the Colorado Republican Party calls on all citizens to stay vigilant and engaged as we enter into the 2024 elections. Together, we can ensure that our state continues to thrive, free from the excessive taxation and government overreach advocated by the Democrat Party.
For the Taxpayers,
Dave Williams
