Storytelling with Care Short Film Grant

John — Do you have a care story? We’re seeking short film scripts that showcase previously untapped experiences of caregivers (both professional and family) and care recipients that add nuance and variation to the types of care stories we’ve already seen on screen.

The National Domestic Workers Alliance and Caring Across Generations, in partnership with Participant and the Hollywood Radio & Television Society Foundation, are thrilled to present the Storytelling With Care Short Film Grant!

One recipient will receive a grant of $50,000 to go towards producing the short film, in addition to mentorship with industry professionals, film festival support, and a 1 year of membership at the Hollywood Radio & Television Society.

Applications are LIVE and the last day to apply is December 31, 2023. The grant recipient will be announced in Spring 2024.

We are so proud to be able to invest in artists who are reimagining the ways in which we see care portrayed on screen, and we hope this inspires writers to tell their care stories! Apply for the grant by December 31 and help bring #MoreCareOnScreen.

Dignity, Unity, Power

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.

Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
