When Lauren Boebert decided to very publicly announce with great fanfare at a political event that she was going to become a 36-year-old "Gigi" (grandmother) earlier this year, many of her opponents, including us, nevertheless tried to avoid making her family the focus of our communications.
That, of course, did not stop Boebert herself from shamelessly using her teenage son and his girlfriend's pregnancy and new baby to burnish her image as a pro-life "family values" conservative and score political points with her base.
We're happy to take the high road—something Boebert knows absolutely nothing about—but we also are comfortable calling out the galling hypocrisy and opportunism of the whole situation. Boebert has made that fair game.
That's why we were thrilled to see this succinct, yet appropriately brutal, opinion piece in the Durango Herald, a publication serving parts of Boebert's congressional district:
