Our gala is in just one week, and we’re excited to share it with you and disability community members and allies from across the country and around the world!

Join us [[link removed]] for our annual celebration virtually next Thursday, November 16! This year’s theme is We Weave Our Own Story, a tribute to the ways in which we build networks of support for our communities.

You are welcome to attend whichever events you want, or you can join us for the whole evening!

We’ll start by having two panels featuring self-advocates and allies. The first panel, Keeping the Promise: The Settings Rule and securing an end to institutions, will go from 3:30 to 5:15 PM ET and focuses on the HCBS Settings Rule and what it means for the autistic and wider disability community in regards to our right to receive services that are truly community-based, rather than being stuck in “institutions in disguise.” This panel will be moderated by Greg Robinson. Register for this panel here! [[link removed]]

The second panel, How to avoid unraveling: Building trans autistic community care, is from 5:30 to 7:15 PM ET and is all about building community at the intersections of transness and disability. Moderated by Alex Grandstaff, this panel will focus on how trans autistic joy is a form of resistance in the face of attacks on trans communities. Sign up for this panel here! [[link removed]]

Make sure to register for each panel to get the attendance link!

After our panels, the 2023 Award Ceremony will begin on Youtube at 7:30 PM ET. This year's Award Ceremony will honor several awardees for their tireless work in advocacy, research, community building, and so much more. We’ll hear remarks by our outgoing Executive Director Julia Bascom, incoming Interim Executive Director Avery Outlaw, and conclude with ASAN staff members’ reflections on the year and hopes for the year to come!

After the award ceremony, we’ll be emailing the winners of our raffle. Make sure you’re registered for the gala in order to be entered into the raffle! We will be raffling off 2 free year-long ASAN memberships, and 25 copies of Alice Wong’s book Year of the Tiger: An Activist’s Life.

Gala tickets are on a sliding scale, so you can pay whatever you are comfortable with. We ask that our gala attendees donate if they are able, but no donation will be required to attend our virtual gala events. Proceeds will support our advocacy work and programs for the coming year, and allow us to continue working to empower disabled people across the country.
