Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a program that allows migrants whose home countries are considered unsafe by the Department of Homeland Security to live and work legally in the United States for a temporary period of time. TPS beneficiaries must re-register periodically in order to extend their legal status. The Department of Homeland Security announced that it is extending the re-registration periods for beneficiaries from the following TPS-designated countries, including Nepal, Nicaragua and Honduras.
