As a woman, watching our reproductive rights being stripped away hits home, team —

Louisiana has one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country, and it’s killing Louisianan women and girls. In rural areas, access to reproductive healthcare treatments such as family planning and abortion services is restricted. On top of that, these barriers disproportionately impact low-income women and our Black communities, and nearly guarantees the perpetuity of an endless cycle of poverty.

This injustice is counterproductive to the American Dream — that you can do and be anything. I can’t stand to watch our state continue to move backwards in our fight for reproductive rights, and that’s one of the main reasons I joined this race.

Not many know this, but the Attorney General is uniquely positioned to protect our reproductive freedom. As the chief legal officer of the state, it’s their role to ensure our laws are followed. They play a vital role in reproductive access, and unlike our current anti-choice AG, Jeff Landry (who will become our Governor in January), I will protect abortion clinics and maintain the privacy of anyone who seeks reproductive care.

With right-wing politicians like Jeff Landry in power, it couldn’t be more important to check their regressive rhetoric with a true fighter for women and girls. As your next AG, I will be a fierce advocate for women’s reproductive rights.
