Dear John,

Meet NeW member Grace Reed! Grace is the vice president of NeW at Texas Tech University and a NeW national member. We caught up with her and asked her a few questions about her experience as a conservative woman on campus.

Q. How did you first hear about NeW?
A. I first heard about NeW through a social the chapter hosted alongside the Turning Point USA chapter at Texas Tech. I got to meet Adelyn Spikes, who was the president at the time, and the event opened up my eyes to the potential friendships and opportunities that NeW had to offer.

Q. Why is having a NeW chapter on campus so important to you?
A. Having NeW on campus has had a huge impact on my life. It has given me many opportunities to make strong connections with other conservative women that I otherwise might have never met. It has also equipped me with the confidence and knowledge to state my opinion in the classroom, knowing not all of my peers or professors agree. My hope is that other conservative women on campus see us speaking up and are encouraged to do the same!

Q. What has been your favorite memory or event with NeW?
A. One of my favorite memories I have is the shooting range event that we hosted last year, though this year's event was equally as great. A group of roughly 10-12 of us went to the range, and we were given a lesson in gun safety, as well as tips on how to protect ourselves in any dangerous situations that we may be faced with. It was such a great opportunity to not only further educate myself, but also have fun with a group of my closest friends.

Q. Why does NeW matter?
A. NeW is important because it has brought together like-minded women who come together to empower each other through struggles. There are also countless opportunities for growth and development that can further you in your professional life.

We are so happy that being a member of NeW has had a positive impact on Grace’s college experience.

Thank you for being a valued member of our network!

All the best,

Director of Programs

Fall Book Club

In October, we hosted author Xi Van Fleet, a survivor of the Chinese Communist Party under Mao Zedong, for a virtual book club discussion. Our fall book club selection is her new book, Mao's America: A Survivor's Warning, which was released on October 31.

Students were able to hear the amazing story of how Van Fleet came to America and the details of her childhood in China under Mao Zedong’s rule. Students were able to ask Van Fleet questions about her life and gained a first-hand perspective on the lives of people in China under an oppressive regime.

NeW hosts regular book clubs with authors. We have hosted Senator Joni Ernst, Former Ambassador Nikki Haley, Dana Perino, and other leaders.
