Hi John,

By now, you’ve seen the headlines from Tuesday’s election results. In case you haven’t, here is the TL;DR: Abortion and cannabis won, attacks on our bodily autonomy failed spectacularly.

Because of the thousands of phone calls, text messages, and conversations that state LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations, organizers, and coalition leaders had in their communities, we saw victories for pro-equality candidates and issues across the country.

Please join us in celebrating these victories and help us move forward by donating $24 today to fuel our work in 2024. [[link removed]]

A few highlights include:
- Kentucky secured the re-election of Governor Andy Behar despite $2 million worth of anti-trans attacks (for the second time!) from his opponent for his defense of LGBTQ+ rights.
- Candidates who supported a safe, inclusive public education for all won their school board races in states across the country like Iowa, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and others.
- New Jersey saw the historic victory of Assemblywoman-elect Luanne Peterpaul — the first openly LGBTQ+ woman elected to the New Jersey Legislature — as well as committed advocates for equality securing seats from school boards to the statehouse.
- In Ohio, voters showed up to easily approve a constitutional amendment establishing the right to an abortion. Oh, and legalized recreational marijuana use.
- In Virginia, Democrats seized the majority in the House of Delegates and kept control of the State Senate. And Danica Roem made history by becoming the second transgender state senator in the country.

Thanks to the work of every organizer and volunteer of our state partners who fought tirelessly to turn out pro-equality voters across the country and succeeded.

As we look to 2024, we know the fight for our rights will continue in the states despite these achievements.

No matter what happens, we will always have our voice, and when we share our stories, we win. Equality Federation and our partners are meeting right now to plan for what’s next. Know we will keep working every single day to build the movement that will carry us to justice and liberation.

We hope you’ll join us.
