Here are the individuals who have dipped deepest into their own pockets for campaign contributions to federal candidates, parties, political action committees, 527 organizations and Carey committees.
In the 2022 midterms, these donors contributed over $600 million to influence elections at the federal level. Only contributions to Democrats and Republicans or liberal and conservative outside groups are included in calculating the percentages the donor has given to either party.
Sam Bankman-Fried was a top donor in 2022, but Bankman-Fried was recently convicted for masterminding one of the biggest financial frauds in U.S. history [[link removed]] by misappropriating customer funds to become one of the largest donors of the 2022 midterms.

Pro-Israel lobbyist groups and individuals contributed nearly $31 million to American congressional candidates during last year’s election cycle — more than six times the contributions candidates received from the gun rights lobby — according to OpenSecrets, a Washington nonprofit that tracks campaign finance and lobbying data.

During his successful 2022 reelection bid, Phillips raised around 82% of his more than $2 million in donations from in-state donors, with nearly $1.5 million coming from backers based in Minnesota, according to data from the nonpartisan organization OpenSecrets.
