More evidence, less poverty

Dear John,
For more than 20 years, IPA, with the generous support of our funding partners and donors, has been conducting rigorous research to discover strategies that work to improve the lives of people living in poverty. In collaboration with our network of researchers, policymakers, and various organizations, we have uncovered meaningful evidence that is improving the lives of people living in poverty. For example:
Cash Transfers

: Extensive research supported by IPA and others have demonstrated unconditional cash transfers can be highly effective to improve the lives of individuals living in poverty, contrary to common belief that giving money to those in need might be misused. This research has wide-ranging impact on the development and humanitarian sector.
Graduation Approach

: IPA’s evaluations of the Graduation Approach—a comprehensive program providing households with livelihood training, productive asset transfers, consumption support, savings services, basic healthcare, and life skills coaching—have consistently shown success in graduating households out of extreme poverty across contexts.
Teaching at the Right Level

: IPA has also contributed to the body of evidence that demonstrates teaching at the level of students' learning levels and skills, rather than their age or grade, has positive results in learning. This approach is now being implemented at a large scale in India and—with the support of IPA—in Ghana.
Our work is far from over. IPA’s evidence-based solutions have transformed the lives of over 300 million people worldwide. Despite this progress, for evidence-informed interventions to have a wide-reaching and sustainable impact on the lives of people living in poverty, we need to dramatically expand our scope and increase our focus in this space.
So, what's next? Our focus is now on translating these research findings into real-world impact, and for that, we need your support. Your investment will help to ensure rigorous evidence regarding what works, and what does not, is transformed into sustainable, large-scale solutions that make a difference in the lives of people living in poverty. This giving season, join us in creating positive, lasting change by investing in IPA’s next 20 years.
