Friend, I'm feeling emotional as I write this email to you. Michigan legislators just passed a 100 percent clean energy standard by 2040 as part of a whole package of critical climate bills.
For the people of Michigan, this will:
☑️ Lower household energy costs ☑️ Slash climate pollution ☑️ Create tens of thousands of good-paying jobs ☑️ Improve grid reliability during extreme weather events
This is a huge victory for the Midwest, one that will truly improve lives and livelihoods.
But it's also a reminder of what we're up against in the broader fight for climate action.
These bills faced intense opposition from fossil fuel interests and private utilities like DTE. Their lobbying led to compromises, and while we will work to address these in future legislation, it goes to show just how much still needs to be done to stop utilities from using ratepayer funds to lobby against climate action.
Evergreen is gearing up to fight dirty utilities and get their bad influence out of climate policy—will you help us?

Evergreen worked closely with Michigan partners to get this package passed: We met with decision makers, modeled the benefits of the legislation, and helped advocates like you send letters and make phone calls.
And now, with your help, we're ready to win again.
We can't let dirty utilities continue to hold us back from climate progress. That's why we're gearing up to work in key states to push for legislation that prevents utility companies from lobbying against our best interests. |
With so much gratitude, Courtney Bourgoin Senior Policy and Advocacy Manager, Midwest Evergreen Action |
