Our only legitimate hope . . .
Dear Supporter,
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the latest headlines, with their dire warnings and their focus on problems, not solutions, you’re not alone. Millions of people are on edge. Driven there by legitimate concerns about their own health, and about the long-term health—environmental, political and economic—of our society in general. I’ve always believed that one of the best ways to stay physically healthy is to cultivate optimism. And the way to do that is to focus on solutions. And I believe that one of the most powerful solutions we have—right now, ready to roll out and scale up—is the power of regeneration. Organic Consumers Association, working closely with our sister organization, Regeneration International and its 282 global partners—and with the more than 20,000 farmers and ranchers in our newly formed coalition here in the U.S.—is doing everything in our power to educate consumers, support farmers, and work with policymakers to transition our food and farming system from one that degenerates our health and the environment, to one that regenerates. This work is time-intensive. It's resource-intensive. But our biggest challenge is this: We are up against powerful industrial agribusiness and chemical corporations that don't want change, especially the kind of change that threatens their profit models. We do want change. And we know you want it, too. We know you want solutions . . . not more problems. I can’t think of a better solution—or a better investment in the future—than to pour our collective time, energy and resources into bringing about a large-scale transition to regenerative food and farming. In uncertain times, I’m reminded of the wise words of farmer, writer and activist Wendell Berry: “To cherish what remains of the Earth and to foster its renewal is our only legitimate hope of survival.” Thank you!
To Regeneration! P.S. Through midnight PST Saturday, March 7, Mercola will donate $3 for every $1 you donate to support our work to educate consumers and lobby policymakers to support organic regenerative farmers instead of the industrial agribusiness corporations that are responsible for so much destruction.
