Folks, I’m proud of where I came from.

I grew up the son of hardworking farmworkers. My family lived in a small trailer in rural California where my brother and I shared a bed that in the daytime converted into a kitchen table.

My community made me the father, the husband, and the Congressman I am today. But to be honest with you, friend, I’m increasingly worried that the extreme MAGA agenda is leaving communities like mine behind.

Instead of fighting to lower healthcare costs, or expand opportunities in education and our workforce, they bail out their corporate backers and billionaire buddies.

It’s the dirty little secret of Washington: money wins you influence.

And for MAGA Republicans, those contributions are cut straight from the checkbooks of only the very wealthy few, not hardworking people like my parents and the people of my district, which is one of the poorest in the entire country.

I’m sick of that influence team, which is why I’m proud that our campaign is backed by small-dollar donors chipping in a few bucks at a time to re-balance the scales in Washington.
