Our movement for bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom is stronger than ever

Ayanna Pressley for Congress

Last night, voters in Ohio, Virginia, and Pennsylvania affirmed what we know to be true: the people demand and deserve access to abortion care and reproductive freedom. Abortion care is healthcare and a fundamental human right. And it will always be a winning issue with the people.

You can’t poll transformation. But as we head into 2024, we can feel the ground shifting beneath our feet. Yesterday’s election is another reminder that our votes are powerful, our voices matter, and our movement for bodily autonomy is stronger than ever.

As my mother taught me: the most effective way to create change in a meaningful, sustainable way is through movement building. This movement for abortion justice is big, it is resilient, and it is growing. We get what we organize for, and I believe fiercely in what we can achieve together.

I’m grateful to every candidate and newly elected official, every campaign staffer and poll worker, every volunteer who knocked doors and canvassed to get out the victory, every voter and every person who does the Work — on Election Day and always — to support and strengthen our democracy.

And as always, I thank you for being a part of this movement. We won't stop fighting to affirm that abortion care is a fundamental human right.

Yours in service,

Ayanna
