Friend — I hope you’re following this — with just days before the deadline to fund the government, extreme MAGA members of Congress just voted to mandate new oil and gas leases, gut the EPA, and claw back the biggest climate investment in history, instead of doing anything to keep the government open.

Without a budget deal, the government will shut down next week. That means anything could be on the table in budget negotiations. We only have a few days left to make sure a final deal doesn’t gut environmental protections.

In a preview of what’s to come, House Republicans led by “MAGA Mike” Johnson recently pushed through an Interior-Environment appropriations bill that would eviscerate environmental protections and decimate historic climate progress in the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.

We can’t let this kind of bill become law.
