They censured my sister Rep. Tlaib

Bowman for Congress

Hey John,

I’m still fuming. Last night, MAGA Republicans and 22 Democrats censured my sister Rashida Tlaib. They’re punishing her for speaking truth to power as the only Palestinian-American in Congress.

We need Rep. Tlaib’s voice more than EVER. I couldn’t stay silent. I had to speak up on the House floor. If you support promoting peace and empathy, I need you to split a donation between Rashida’s and my campaigns right now.

First and foremost: Rashida does not support Hamas. She is standing for basic human dignity for the people of Gaza.

At a time when Congress should be focused on ending the violence in the Middle East, they’re picking fights with their own colleagues. This only distracts from the real suffering and pain people are feeling right now. And let me tell you, the one thing Congress and our country desperately needs right now is more compassion.

On the floor, I humbly suggested that perhaps because of my Republican colleagues’ stunning lack of diversity, they might lack the cognitive and emotional ability to recognize diverse opinions.

That might explain why they censured Rashida but didn’t do a damn thing when Lauren Boebert called Ilhan Omar a terrorist. Or why they completely let it slide when Majorie Taylor Green spread vile antisemitic conspiracy theories.

I’m sick of them policing women of color. Silencing Palestinian voices during a Palestinian humanitarian crisis is despicable. So I’m asking you to support Rashida and me as we fight for our values.

Peace and love,
