With this November’s Election Day behind us, we wanted to reach out to say thank you .
We’ll soon be digging into the numbers coming out of last night and using what we learn to continue empowering voters to make their voices heard. In particular, we’ll examine how Georgia’s massive voter suppression law, SB 202, impacted access to the ballot.
In the meantime, here’s what we know for sure: This election was a testament to the undeniable strength of our movement. You went all out to help elect pro-voter candidates up and down the ballot, and we could not be more grateful.
But our work to protect and expand the freedom to vote — particularly for young voters and people of color who’ve been historically shut out of the process — is far from over.
We’ve now officially entered the 2024 election cycle. Tonight, 5 candidates will take the stage for the third Republican presidential debate — and we have to be ready for anything.
No matter what they say to try and win votes, we know where they truly stand:
*
As
Governor
of
South
Carolina,
Nikki
Haley
signed
a
burdensome
and
restrictive
voter
ID
law
that
the
Department
of
Justice
attempted
to
block,
deeming
that
it
was
too
discriminatory.
She
also
denounced
Congress’
For
the
People
Act
,
which
aimed
to
create
federal
standards
to
improve
voting
access
for
the
first
time
since
the
Voting
Rights
Act
of
1965,
claiming
that
it
was
“unconstitutional
and
unwise.”
*
As
Governor
of
Florida,
Ron
DeSantis
has
signed
several
extreme
voter
suppression
bills
into
law
—
including
purging
eligible
voters
from
the
rolls
and
creating
a
special
law
enforcement
unit
to
investigate
so-called
“election
crimes.”
He
also
fought
to
pass
a
congressional
map
that
intentionally
eliminated
a
district
historically
held
by
Black
Democrats,
which
would
have
taken
away
critical
representation
for
Black
voters
from
Tallahassee
to
Jacksonville.
*
And
while
he
might
not
be
on
stage
tonight,
we
all
know
that
Donald
Trump
is
the
Election-Denier-in-Chief.
He’s
been
indicted
for
trying
to
overturn
the
results
of
the
2020
election
by
leading
a
criminal
conspiracy
to
rob
Georgia
voters
of
their
voice
in
our
democracy.
And
his
efforts
to
undermine
our
elections
have
unleashed
an
unprecedented
era
of
election
denial,
anti-voter
laws,
and
attacks
on
our
democracy
—
all
in
service
of
delusional
attempts
to
hold
onto
power
by
any
means
necessary.
We can’t let any of these candidates become president (again). As we look back on this election cycle and look ahead to 2024, we’ll keep holding them and other anti-voter politicians accountable — but we need your help to make it all possible.
