John, there is no electoral contest that Democrats can’t win if we work to win them together.

Last night, Democratic voters secured victory in competitive, key races for Kentucky governor and Virginia legislature. Meanwhile, Ohio voters decided to enshrine the right to abortion in their state Constitution.

These victories are just the latest proof: When we commit the necessary time and resources to crucial electoral contests, we can defeat far-right radicalism wherever it appears.

Kentucky and Virginia are bellwethers for our state, John. Democrats everywhere should savor this moment — but not let ourselves get complacent.

We cannot pretend that the upcoming elections in NC are going to present straightforward victories. Republicans are set on doing whatever it takes to defeat our party, hang onto their legislative supermajorities, and enact radical policies that would set us back.

North Carolina is a key 2024 battlefield. We’re in for a long, hard fight at every level of the ballot, especially since we expect national Republicans to target critical races with outside spending. We need to prepare to take them on.
