Dear John,
With everything that has been going on on the global stage, we are very pleased to share some good news about yesterday’s elections. Iranian-American women are stepping up as leaders in their communities.
And as of last night we are very pleased to celebrate three Iranian-American women who won their elections and are actively building more political power in their communities!
Atoosa Reaser, Delegate Elect for Virginia’s 27th District

NIAC Action is proud to have endorsed [[link removed]] Atoosa in her winning bid to become delegate for the 27th district of Virginia’s House. Throughout her career, she has used her legal expertise to serve her community and protect the rights of others. Whether as a guardian ad litem fighting for at-risk youth in Loudoun County or as a member of the Loudoun County School Board, championing the creation of opportunities in academics and arts where she worked to improve teacher pay and benefits, leading Loudoun County School to a #1 ranking in Virginia. We look forward to her leadership and encourage you to learn more about her by visiting her social media [[link removed]]
Mitra Jalali, Councilwoman for St. Paul City Council Ward 4
[[link removed]]
NIAC Action is very proud to celebrate Mitra Jalai’s successful campaign for re-election to the city council in St. Paul Minnesota. In her time in office she has supported thousands of new homes at all affordability levels, including a $74M investment in deeply affordable housing. She helped win and defend a rent stabilization policy that protects from predatory rent hikes. And she’s stepped up for climate action, including building 28 new miles of safer bike infrastructure, fully eliminating parking minimums in new development and serving on the Transportation Advisory Board for better public transit. We are proud to celebrate her leadership and encourage you to learn more about her by visiting her website. [[link removed]]
Parisa Deghani-Tafti, Commonwealth Attorney for Arlington
[[link removed]]
NIAC Action is proud to have endorsed Parisa’s successful campaign for re-election to her position as commonwealth attorney in Arlington, Virginia. She has reflected her values through action during her time in office by staffing the only Conviction Review Unit in Virginia, establishing a new mental health docket, expanding drug court, reducing the jail population to its lowest in history, securing indictments and convictions in all serious crimes, creating a restorative justice program for young people, and helping to win more than $700,000 in criminal justice grants to Arlington and the City of Falls Church. We encourage you to learn more about her by visiting her website [[link removed]] .
For context, last cycle we were grateful to help increase Iranian-American representation in state legislatures in Washington and Oregon by supporting two exceptional women, Darya Farivar [[link removed]] and Farrah Chaichi , [[link removed]] who both made history by becoming the first Iranian-American women elected to their state legislatures in their states.
We hope this positive news can give you something to smile about today.
Warm regards,
- NIAC Action Organizing Team [link removed] [[link removed]] [link removed] [[link removed]] [link removed] [[link removed]] [link removed] [[link removed]]
