John,
After wasting three weeks over their Speakership debacle, House Republicans now find themselves scrambling to keep the government running beyond their self-imposed November 17th deadline.
The New York Times reports that just yesterday, "[Speaker] Johnson presented a menu of spending strategies to his conference".1 And he’s doing this just 9 days ahead of a potential government shutdown!
Click here to write to your members of Congress right now and demand they come together to pass bipartisan funding bills without cuts to critical programs, and avert a shutdown.

Extremists in Congress want to slash funding for education, housing, public health, nutrition, and much more. Their recent proposals in House spending bills would result in:
-
A reduction of about 220,000 teachers or other key K-12 staff in schools serving low-income students
-
Up to 82,000 children losing access to Head Start
-
Half a million fewer people getting job training or employment services
-
40,000 low-income households denied rental housing vouchers, dramatically increasing their housing costs
-
Deep cuts to the monthly allotments for fresh fruits and vegetables for young children and mothers in the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program, and funding so inadequate that it would require states to put mothers and young children on waiting lists to get vital nutrition help
-
Cuts of $564 million to programs that reduce lead poisoning and other hazards in housing, threatening 78,000 children
They’re also attempting to attach right-wing policies to these funding bills including inhumane immigration policies that undermine asylum laws, attack civil rights and fair housing laws, undo significant progress on addressing climate change, and even stop research on gun violence prevention.
Send a message to your representative and senators right now and demand Congress pass bipartisan funding bills now without cuts to critical programs. They have only 9 days to act.
The Senate has passed 12 bipartisan funding bills out of committee that comply with the debt limit deal struck earlier this year between President Biden and Congress. But extremists in the House continue to demand deep cuts and inhumane policy changes. We must fight back.
Thank you for taking action today.
