Friend, here’s a dirty little secret about California politicians:

While many of our state lawmakers (yes, even Democrats!) claim to be “pro-environment,” they continue to delay and avoid making the urgent changes we need to avoid climate catastrophe.

And one quick look at their corporate donor lists explains why.

The oil industry and their corporate allies have built up a $100 million war chest to thwart our progress. And with it, they’ve stalled numerous key climate bills that climate champions introduced in the past few years.

Time is running out; temperatures are rising, wildfires are increasing, and every year we face more climate disasters than we have in the past. So we’re doubling down on our efforts to pass climate legislation, hold politicians accountable, and elect a climate majority in the legislature in 2024.

Our lawmakers NEED to know that we refuse to back down. With the California Primary Election just a few months away, we need your help to hold these bad actors accountable. Will you chip in $35 or more today?

Nine priority climate bills were signed into law this year, including the climate corporate accountability package of SB 253 and SB 261, which will have global significance in the fight to reduce pollution and tackle the climate crisis.

However, 19 other priority bills didn’t even get a vote in the legislature or were stalled months ago.

In next year’s elections, we have an opportunity to usher in another wave of environmental champions who will support our climate agenda. That means supporting our key priorities, including:
- AB 1000 to require a minimum distance between new warehouses and sensitive sites like schools, hospitals, and parks
- SB 252 to stop fossil fuel investments by California’s public pension funds for state employees and teachers.
- AB 1176 to ensure that local governments are prepared for the electrification of cars and buildings.

We’re committed to building on our legislative victories from 2023 and continuing to fight for bold climate action in 2024. We have the tools and strategy we need to succeed — we just need our legislators to understand the urgency of the moment.

With only a few months until California’s Primary Election, now is the chance to set us up for success: Are you able to make a donation to fight for transformational climate action in California?
