“What most people want is not a handout. What most people want is a fighting chance at a decent life” - Ritchie Torres

John,

Ritchie posted a video on Facebook the other day that's gotten a lot of attention -- and we wanted to share it with you. We think it's a great window into why he decided to make public service his life's work.

When Ritchie first ran for public office, he had zero ties to the political establishment. As you've probably guessed, that's a really difficult way to make it in a city like New York, but he wanted to give Bronx families a seat at the table.

Fighting for our communities was Ritchie's motivation when he first became the youngest official in the city and the first openly gay official from the Bronx -- and it's what motivates him today.

This is about more than just politics. It's about looking out for our neighbors and fighting for our shared future. And that's why Ritchie is so proud of this movement -- because you embody those values and are willing to roll up your sleeves and fight for them.
