Horrific news came out of Ohio last night. Voters passed Issue 1, the measure enshrining abortion into the state constitution.

John,

Horrific news came out of Ohio last night.

Voters passed Issue 1, the measure enshrining the license to kill a child in the womb into the state’s constitution.

Although this is sobering news, we will respond with courage and truth.

The truth will ultimately prevail. Human life begins at the moment of fertilization and abortion is an act of homicidal violence that kills a living human person — these two truths will never change. The truth always trumps temporary political victories.

Any civilized nation should prohibit abortion. A bedrock of our legal system is the equal protection of our laws for every person, regardless of race, age, location, or social status.

That guarantee of equal protection is enshrined in our Constitution’s Fourteenth Amendment. It is anathemic to vote on the basic human rights of defenseless, unpopular minorities — especially children.

In the United States today, preborn children may be the most unpopular minority.

It is a tragedy that the people of Ohio, and the many states before and to follow them, were asked to vote on the legality of discriminately killing a class of persons based on their age. This is a class of persons, our youngest children, who have no vote and cannot advocate for themselves.

John, this is a devastating blow, but there are a few lessons that the pro-life movement must learn from Ohio:

Money matters: Pro-abortion marketing and advertising outspent the pro-life side by over $12 million.

Media matters: Constant pro-abortion ads bombarded Ohioans with positive-sounding, apparently convincing messaging about “reproductive rights” and “needed” access to abortion up to birth.

Words matter: The pro-abortion wording of Issue 1 was deceptive and confusing, apparently successfully leading the majority to believe it was something good and needed, instead of the gateway to evil that it truly is.

If we want to win, we must take these avenues of money, media, and messaging seriously.

And, most importantly, we have to aggressively show and expose the evil of abortion to people who are blind or apathetic: that abortion is the brutal dismemberment, decapitation, or poisoning to death of helpless human beings.

If we are afraid to boldly share this truth, and show how evil abortion is in killing individual innocent babies, why will anyone care enough to stop it?

The pro-life movement must adapt to win. We have to throw out the old playbook and dive headfirst into a strategy that can win the hearts and minds of the American people and translate into electoral victory.

That strategy starts with fully embracing and educating on the truth. Human life is valuable and must be legally protected. Human life begins at fertilization. Abortion is a murderous act of violence.

Embracing the truth with courage is the first step towards the next political victory.

And the truth is that there is no right to slaughter a child. There never has been and never will be.

We will not back down. We will not give up. We will redouble our efforts.

Your voice is needed to stop the killing and save lives. Future generations will wonder how we could be so blind and cruel to sanction the bloodshed of the innocent.

In the end, truth and justice will prevail.
