I'm writing this morning to sincerely ask you to contribute $25 to our re-election campaign — will you give me a chance to explain why your support is so important?

The truth is that being a member of Congress, getting to serve my community in Minnesota, and fighting for working people nationwide is one of the joys of my life. It's a privilege and an honor, one I've never once taken for granted.

But it can get tough.

By far, the worst part about the job is the obscene amount of money it costs to successfully run for office. Especially when the right wing and their super PACs target campaigns directly as they do ours, spending unlimited sums of dark money to defeat us.

That's why so many of my colleagues in Washington have no problem taking maxout checks from corporate PACs, from Wall Street billionaires, or the fossil fuel giants.

It's because it's easy.

That's not how we do things on our campaign. I believe in grassroots, people-powered movements. I believe that so long as we're in it together, lots and lots of people chipping in what they can is more powerful than anything the super PACs can throw at us.

But it also means I need to lean on you for support. Especially today. I wish I didn't have to ask, but I know that winning in 2024 and enacting the kind of change our country needs is going to require all of us. So please:

Your support is what allows me to keep my time dialing for dollars to a minimum. It means that unlike many in Congress, I don't need to attend black-tie fundraising dinners or rely on the wealthy and powerful to cut us a check.

Instead, my team and I get to continue fighting every single day for working people, and building power for our progressive movement nationwide.
